2020 New Year Goals, SKINCARE and SLEEP

Walking into 2020 with positive vibes and two realistic resolutions,

SLEEP and SKINCARE

SKINCARE

I am already pretty good at my skincare regime but for 2020 I want to be extra regimental, simple but effective steps daily to keep my skin looking radiant, glowing and prevent any early signs of ageing for the future. I also want to get good at my body skincare routine. This is a step I can lack in, its so weird because I am so good with my facial skincare but my body I can forget about a lot of the time.

Obviously, this is for the hydration of my skin, but also it is my goal to see if this will help me tan naturally. My mam’s skin tans beautifully, as alike as we are, I differ from her in this sense. Even over in Canada when biking on my daily commute out in the sun, I did not tan at all.

My mam is so diligent at her body skincare and she said it was not until she started moisturising that she began to start tanning naturally. Also, one of my wonderful clients said the same, when I was complimenting her tan after she returned from holidays. She agreed that it was not until she started moisturising a few years ago that she began to tan naturally.

So, it is my goal to improve my body skincare routine. This gives me a perfect amount of time to improve the moisture in my skin before the summer, and hopefully result in me being able to pick up a light sun-kissed tan. Weather permitting of course……

I will let you know how this goes in the summer, so watch this space ……

SLEEP

As many of you know I am a very early riser, as I fit my exercise regime in before work, (which I love) but since Mr. Terry Willers  came into our lives and changed it for the better, I am now up on the roads at 5.30/5.45 to get him a 25 minute walk before I leave at 6.15 for the gym, get my workout in and get ready and head to work. Now don’t get me wrong I absolutely love this morning routine, and think there is nothing more positive than starting the morning off with a walk (even if it is with 3 jumpers on under a hi-vis, woolly hat and headlamp ) but since adding this extra step in, I am holding my hands up and admitting fatigue. As Mr Willers most definitely needs his walk, I am going to have to start getting to bed earlier to sustain this active lifestyle around my busy work schedule.

I am sure it is not going to be easy, and it will take a lot of work to change habits and get to bed at the early hour of 9.30 , but I am really going to try and again I will of course let you know how this is going so watch this space…..

ACTION

So, to make these new years resolutions a bit more possible, I am taking a couple of steps to ensure I follow through with them.

I have set up a small basket in my room with my skincare products, so it is neat and accessible.

Cleanser, mitts to take it off. Toner, with cotton pads, serum, eye cream, night cream.

Same steps for the morning except swap night cream for hydrating day cream and add my SPF. Once a week after cleansing and toning I will exfoliate and use a face mask. Sounds like a lot but trust me, once you are in the habit, firstly it feels SOOO oxygenating and rejuvenating and secondly it feels weird when you miss any of your skincare steps.

I have placed my body moisturiser in my gym bag so I can apply it every day after the shower, just remembering to do this and change my habit will be the hard part, but I will try.

For sleep, silly as this sounds, I decluttered my dressers, got a new book and have just washed and put my freshly clean sheets and duvet cover on to start my early night regime in a lovely, sound, fresh environment.

FUNFACT: these two new year’s resolutions go hand in hand. Getting enough sleep can really help with the health of your skin and lacking sleep can really hinder it.

During sleep the body releases human growth hormones, a necessary ingredient for collagen production – the protein that gives people shiny hair, strong nails and glowing skin. Skimping on sleep raises cortisol levels, which can interfere with collagen production.

I really hope you enjoyed this blag and thank you so much for reading , I look forward to seeing you here next week where I will be talking about GUT HEALTH and how it is so highly connected to our skin.

I will be keeping up a daily vlog of my skincare routine on instgram stories if you would like to keep tunes in @valebeautyboutique . (Also daily updates of treatments and going on in VALE, which are fun to watch 🙂 )

Untill next time ,

All my love,
