SELF SOOTHING…. Killing My Inner Critic with KINDNESS

So my next step in self help, recommended by my CBT, is to do an act of kindness for myself daily. This is a treat for no one else but myself. Something that just makes you feel good and is kind to YOU.

She recommended having a plan , and writing this down, and sticking to it. Which to be honest is a must, as there were some days it just passed me by, without doing one kind act for myself. I am going to write my list, and plan my act of self kindness and self soothing here, for the 14 days and share it with you all. I hope you enjoy…

Day 1 , I allowed myself to have a nap , which I must say was badly needed.

Day 2 , I was kind to myself and sat for nearly the full hour on lunch, which never happens!

Day 3, I took it one step further and filled the pedicure bowel, bathing my feet, easing into relaxation while having my lunch, it definitely felt like a treat.

Day 5, I was due to go up north for HD and LVL training this Sunday and Monday, as an act of kindness , and just listening to my body, I moved myself to the next training date, in the middle of the month. The old me would never have given into fatigue or going easy on myself, but with this journey I am on , I said this can be my act of kindness, to realize I do not always have to be running at 100%, and deserve a lie in on my day off.

Day 6 I went to Tesco after the gym, and I bought myself a bunch of flowers x

Day 7 I am treating myself to a relaxing ME day, bubble bath and book reading, a treat I never seem to make the time for, but is so self soothing .

Day 8 realizing, oh crap I have not done my act of kindness today, I went to the shop on my lunch and treated myself to milk chocolate, which is a real treat for me… P.S I went with a freddo!

Day 9, this is getting hard…. I plan on going to Tierney’s and buying one of those Tipperary Chrystal candles, you know the one that is a perfect gift for someone, and the boxes are amazing, but you would never just randomly buy yourself one, but I am going to be really kind and buy myself a lovely candle, just cause. x

Day 10 Niamh’s wedding, a bit of a lie in, and breakfast in bed, oh yeahhh

Day 11, we are going to relax in the spa on day 2 of the wedding , and as a real treat I am going to book myself in for a treatment. (I dont think anyone else is , so I am really treating, me)

Day 12 this defo causes for a take away and movie night after the amazing 2 day wedding…. P.S we are going with Wok Star, in Arklow, never fails.

Day 13 a family walk up Ballymanus hill with Duggy and Terry , and maybe a lil picnic on top.

Day 14 I am going to treat myself to an oat milk latee after the gym, what a lovely way to start the week !!

This challenge was definitely challenging , especially with the little b*****d at me with each act of kindness, oh your not gonna eat that are you… f**k off!!

I hope to get to a stage that doing an act of kindness comes naturally, and I do not have to kick the inner critic to the kurb for being nice to myself , as hopefully he will eventually be gone…….. killed with kindness.
